Fred Korematsu Day is January 30th, and to observe this day APIA Affairs will be screening the documentary “Of Civil Wrongs and Rights: The Fred Korematsu Story.”
“[The film] brings to life for the first time the inspirational story of an unsung American civil rights hero, and demonstrates the power of ordinary citizens to rise up against injustice.” Fred Korematsu was a shipyard welder in California in 1942 when Executive Order 9006 forced more than 100,000 Japanese Americans into internments camps. Fred Korematsu’s resistance to this injustice and his rallying of supporting activists would insure that such an outright display of injustice would never occur again.
Please join APIA Affairs on Korematsu Day (Jan 30th) at 7PM in CSE E220 for the screening of this inspiring documentary. Refreshments will be provided!
